    Hi All
I'm geeked my new DIY Altec N-501A crossovers sound pretty good compared to the original recapped Altec N-801A's they replaced.

They really bring out the midbass of my 803B's and really blend well with the A7/515G's.

I'm really liking this VOTT thing !
So all the parts come fron Parts Express, Gateway Electronics and Angela. The coils are the second cheapest from Parts Express, maybe I'll go for foils later. For now the assembly sounds better than the N-801A's.

here's a link to my Gallery:

    Have fun

If your original coils are iron core and you are using air core coils in the DIY...
you may need a 15 or 20 Ohm resistor in parallel with the air core coils.
Without the resistor the LF peaks up at crossover. You can use one section of an L Pad
as a variable resistor to try it.

    Thanks Don
I'm just putting these together and any advice is generously accepted. I'll try paralleling a 15ohmer and see how that sounds.

    Have fun!

Drummerwill hasn't been here in a longtime ! Please start a NEW THREAD !!!!!! You will get more replies from current members than from the people your are trying to contact.. If they haven't been on this board in a year or more chances are they won't be anytime soon..
